History
Severe Tropical Cyclone Errol was the final tropical cyclone of the 2024–25 Australian region cyclone season, developing on 9 April 2025. After remaining at relatively weak intensity for nearly a week, the system underwent rapid intensification and reached Category 5 strength on 15–16 April, making it the season's third Category 5 cyclone. Errol subsequently weakened before crossing the coast of Western Australia, and the system dissipated on 18 April. The 2024–25 season of which Errol was a part was notably above average, producing 12 tropical cyclones including 8 severe tropical cyclones — the most active season since 2005–06 — with collective damage exceeding $2 billion USD and 54 deaths across all storms.
