Dianne

2024-25 season · AU202425_28U

Category 3

History

Tropical Cyclone Dianne formed on 26 March 2025 during the 2024–25 Australian region cyclone season, a notably active season that produced 12 tropical cyclones in total. Dianne developed in the Australian region and strengthened to reach Category 2 intensity on the Australian tropical cyclone scale. The system subsequently made landfall in the Kimberley region of Western Australia before dissipating.

Dianne was one of three tropical cyclones to form during March 2025, alongside Tropical Low 25U and Cyclone Courtney. Its landfall in the Kimberley placed it among several cyclones during the season to affect the Western Australian coastline, a year that also saw Cyclone Zelia strike near Port Hedland as a Category 5 system and Cyclone Errol make landfall in Western Australia in April. The 2024–25 season as a whole was described as above average and damaging, with collective losses exceeding two billion US dollars, though the bulk of that damage was attributed to Zelia and Cyclone Alfred rather than Dianne. No casualties or significant damage figures specific to Dianne are recorded in available sources.
